It is important to calculate the correct amount of square feet of sod needed for your lawn. We have provided some easy mathematics to help take some of the guess work out of measuring for your lawn.

Area = 3.14 x r2

A = 3.14 x 102

A = 3.14 x 100

A = 314 square feet

Area in square feet = Length in feet (L) x Width in feet (W)

A = L x W

A = 20 feet x 30 feet

A = 600 square feet

Area = (Base (B) x Height (H)) ÷ 2

A = (B x H) ÷ 2

A = (20 x 30) ÷ 2

A = 600 ÷ 2

A = 300 square feet

Break the freeform area into regular geometric shapes and calculate the area of each shape.
Add the area of each shape together to figure the total square feet.

Total Area = Circle (1) + Rectangle (2) + Square (3)

A = 314 + 100 + 600

A = 1014 square feet

**We usually suggest that you add about 10% more square feet to cover error on a freeform lawn.
